Federation joins family and colleagues in remembering PC Jeff Tooley
Sussex Police Federation has been honoured to represent our members this week as we have commemorated the 25th anniversary of the tragic loss of our colleague PC Jeff Tooley.
PC Tooley died on duty on 24 April 1999.
Whilst carrying out speed enforcement checks in Shoreham PC Tooley was struck by a speeding van which failed to stop.
This week, we attended the memorial at Shoreham and the fantastic and poignant reception afterwards organised by the force, attended by CC Jo Shiner, family, colleagues and Jeff's parents.
Today our Chair Raffaele Cioffi and Vice Chair Andy Newman escorted Jeff's dad Barry and his friend Dave to the memorial wall at Lewes HQ, where we also organised a trip out with the roads policing team.
PC Tony Butterfill took them out on patrol.
Afterwards CC Shiner joined Barry at the memorial wall to visit Jeff's plaque alongside Raffaele.
