Sussex Police Federation

Federation calls for donations for Children at Christmas

3 December 2024

Sussex Police Federation is asking colleagues and the public to give Secret Santa a swerve in 2024... and instead donate a toy to children in need.

Thanks to all those who have donated so far.

The toys will be for a child who, along with their parent, has fled domestic abuse and is living in a women’s refuge in Sussex.

As most families fleeing abuse arrive in refuges without any possessions, any toys received will mean the children will have something to open on Christmas Day.

This is the start of a partnership between Kidsout and Sussex Police Federation which includes a programme of fundraising at the Federation Bravery & Excellence in Policing Awards, May 2025.

There are currently drop-off points for toys in Newhaven and Worthing.  https://kidsout.org.uk/the-giving-tree/sign-up

Alternatively, toys can also be bought online at the national children’s charity ‘Giving Tree, Fun & Happiness Shop’ at https://kidsout.org.uk/shop/ Prices start at just £7 and include delivery to a refuge.

Chair of the Federation, Raffaele Cioffi said: "We are asking people to join our members and forget the joke presents this Christmas, instead buy a present for a child aged between 6 months to 16 years so we can help bring smiles to their faces during a traumatic time."

The KidsOut charity, supported by Police Federation Members, will be distributing the presents to children before Christmas Day.
