The Police Treatment Centres

The Police Treatment Centres (PTC) is a registered charity supported by voluntary donations from the police family primarily in the Northern forces of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but also from British Transport Police, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary and the Ministry of Defence Police. 

The charity provides two treatment centres where serving and retired police officers can receive treatment following an illness or injury, with the aim of assisting their return to better health. The centres are St Andrews, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and Castlebrae in Auchterarder, Perthshire. The charity also offers a remote physiotherapy service.

Almost 4,000 serving and retired officers attend the Treatment Centres each year and most receive intensive physiotherapy. Others seek support with stress-related conditions or anxiety and depression as part of the Psychological Wellbeing Programme.

All student officers will receive their first 12 months’ subscription to the PTC free of charge.

Subscription to the treatment centres is available to all serving police officers, PCSOs, Special Constables and detention and custody officers. Retired officers can also sign up at a lower rate.

The Police Treatment Centres is a registered charity supported by voluntary donations from the police family. Officers currently make a donation from their pay of £1.80 per week.

Take a weekend break and help the Police Treatment Centres

You can book weekend B & B breaks at the Police Treatment Centres (PTCs).

The two centres, St Andrews at Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and Castlebrae at Auchterarder, Perthshire, are set in stunning countryside and give members a great chance to unwind for a couple of days while raising money for the PTC.

You can also book a week-long stay at a self-catering, three-bedroomed holiday cottage in the grounds of Castlebrae.

The spacious cottage sleeps up to five, plus a travel cot, on a self-catering basis. It features:

• Large double en suite with shower
• Twin bedroom
• Single bedroom
• House bathroom with bath
• Fully fitted modern kitchen with fridge freezer, oven and microwave.
• Garden with outdoor seating.

It is dog-friendly so you can take along a well-behaved dog for an extra £30.

Again, all funds go back to the PTC.
