North Yorkshire Police Welfare Fund operates to help our colleagues when in need, and includes help for family members such as sick children. We also support the National Police Memorial Day, taking families along to the national events.
Our Lake District cabins also ensure that colleagues have a cost-effective option when they need to simply have a break. If you don't currently support the Welfare Fund, do take time to consider. You can always call the office here at Knaresborough, or chat to a local rep. We’re here for our members, and the Welfare Fund is a great example of how we can all support each other.
The Welfare Fund has representatives from the NYP chief officer team, the Police Superintendents’ Association, NARPO, and indeed your Federation, which administers and runs the fund on behalf of NYP.
Officers and retired officers can apply to the fund for assistance and, after consideration by the fund, that individual case can receive assistance. In the recent past, this has been financial assistance with medical equipment for children, help with travel expenses concerning terminally ill members, and grants of money in cases of severe hardship.
Our welfare cabins in the Lake District, while bookable by all members of the fund, also provide respite locations when necessary for serving officers who may be suffering from a number of medical issues, physical or mental, or simply to support a sever case of financial hardship and to ensure that the officers family are afforded the opportunity for a holiday.
Without you, our members, supporting this worthwhile fund, those in need could not receive the assistance that the fund provides each year, so thank you.
