North Yorkshire Police Federation today remembers PC Keith Summerbell on the 44th anniversary of his death.
Keith, 26, was killed while undergoing advanced police motorcycle training when he lost control of his machine due to a defective road surface and collided with an oncoming lorry on 20 September 1982.
Branch chair Rob Bowles said: “Keith was just 26 years old and had so much of his life and policing career ahead of him.
“Today we remember him and the service he gave to the Force and the public. And we also hold in our thoughts Keith’s family, friends and colleagues.
“It is important that the sacrifice of our fallen officers and the service they gave to North Yorkshire Police is never forgotten.”
