Tributes paid to PC Kelly Smith

North Yorkshire Police Federation has paid tribute to PC Kelly Smith.

Kelly died on Friday (15 August) following a long illness, leaving behind her husband Colin and eight-year-old son Jacob.

Kelly joined North Yorkshire Police in 2002, initially serving in Scarborough and then in the Operational Support Unit in Malton.

Rob Bowles, chair of North Yorkshire Police Federation, said: “This is extremely sad news and I know Kelly's loss will be felt across the Force.

“Our thoughts go out to Kelly’s husband, Colin and son, Jacob, as well as her loved ones, friends and colleagues, during this time. 

“We know so many of our members will be impacted by this upsetting news. Take time to grieve, be there for one another and cherish those fond memories you shared with Kelly. 

“And please know, the Federation is here for you, should you require further support.”

As per Kelly's wishes, a humanist service will be held to celebrate her life. Further details will be communicated in due course.
