Fed members encouraged to support The Police Children's Charity

16 June 2025

The husband of PC Rosie Prior, who was tragically killed in a road collision earlier this year, has praised the support his family have received from The Police Children’s Charity (TPCC).

Now Chris Prior is ‘strongly encouraging’ North Yorkshire Police Federation members to sign up to the charity.

He said: “TPCC is a fantastic charity that really helped us as a family at our time of need.

“I would strongly encourage all police officers and police staff to sign up to the charity, as you never know when you might need them.”

Rob Bowles at the centre in Harrogate.

Mother-of-two Rosie, a serving officer with North Yorkshire Police, died after being hit by a lorry on the A19 at Bagby on 11 January.

Chris and their two sons have been brought on board as TPCC beneficiaries. They will be eligible for a series of grants and other benefits from the charity through their educational lifetime.

The charity aims to support police families by helping to ease the financial pressures of bringing up children in the face of life-changing circumstances.

Fundraise

Chris visited TPCC at its head office at the Police Treatment Centres on Wednesday with Rob Bowles, North Yorkshire Police Federation chair.

He continues to fundraise for TPCC, alongside his own colleagues and Rosie’s work colleagues.

Indeed, North Yorkshire Police Team took part in the Knaresborough Bed Race last Saturday (14 June).

The race is a unique pageant of decorated beds, passengers, and runners, that takes place through the streets of Knaresborough, up hills, and even across the river Nidd.

The team of six local neighbourhood officers are running in memory of Rosie, and you can sponsor them via their JustGiving page.
