The husband of PC Rosie Prior, who was tragically killed in a road collision earlier this month, has asked that people donate to The Police Children’s Charity in her memory.
Mother-of-two Rosie, 45, died after being hit by a lorry on the morning of 11 January. She was standing on the verge of the A19 at Bagby, when she and two others were hit by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) just before 9am.
Her funeral is set to take place next month, and her husband, Chris Prior, is asking that donations be made to The Police Children’s Charity following the ‘amazing support’ he and their two children have received since the accident.
PC Rosie Prior.
The Police Children’s Charity is a registered charity which aims to support Police families by helping to ease the financial pressures of bringing up children in the face of life-changing circumstances.
Chris said he feels he ‘needs everyone to know about this amazing charity’.
He added: “Rosie donated to the charity through wage contributions and, as an amazing mother, was clearly a charity she held dear to her heart.”
Rob Bowles, chair of North Yorkshire Police Federation paid tribute to Chris’ ‘selfless’ act during what is ‘extremely tragic circumstances’.
“At a time when the unimaginable has happened - when Chris, the couple’s two boys and their family are grieving - to want to support a charity is nothing but admirable,” said Rob.
“The Police Children’s Charity is a fantastic organisation, providing vital support during extremely difficult times. I’m pleased that Chris and his family have received such support from an organisation that Rosie believed in.”
Donations to The Police Children’s Charity can be made via a JustGiving page created in Rosie's honour.
