North Yorkshire Police Federation secretary Helen Scholefield said it was ‘humbling’ to lay a wreath on behalf of members at the Force’s Armistice Day service.
Helen joined hundreds of North Yorkshire Police colleagues in paying their respects to the servicemen and women who lost their lives in the two world wars and other conflicts.
She said: “It was a huge privilege to be part of the service and to be able to lay the wreath on behalf of North Yorkshire Police Federation and our members.
“It’s nice to be able to show our respects for all of the brave men and women who gave their lives in wars.
Branch secretary Helen Scholefield pays her respects.
“We have a lot of ex-forces who become police officers and it means a lot to them and their families, as it does to so many people who will have their own family stories of bravery and sacrifice.
“I’m proud that I get to lay a wreath but it’s also very humbling because it puts everything else into perspective.”
Chief Constable Tim Forber laid a wreath on behalf of the Force at the service at Force headquarters in Northallerton.
He was joined by Deputy Chief Constable Scott Bisset and Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Clarke.
Wreaths were laid on behalf of the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO), UNISON, the fire service and by Jo Coles, York and North Yorkshire Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire and Crime.
Assistant Chief Constable Ben Moseley laid a wreath at the Force’s Armistice Day service held at the memorial garden at Harrogate police station.
