Leicestershire Police Federation chair Tiff Lynch says more support and financial backing needs to be given to community policing in a newly-released vlog.
Tiff believes community policing is the 'bedrock' of what the police service does and Leicestershire Police Federation's 'Communities 1st' work will highlight the good work in the county throughout 2018.
"Neighbourhood policing is the key to policing," says Tiff. "Unfortunately, we are losing more and more officers up and down the country. As a result, our neighbourhoods are being depleted of officers on the streets, integrating with the community in the prevention of crime.
"Throughout this year, Leicestershire Police Federation is going to be concentrating on the work that is completed by our neighbourhood officers.
“We are going to be showcasing in our magazine 'Upbeat' and on our website, all of that good work and our engagement with the communities we protect. This work is effectively the bedrock of our policing.”
