Rulings on two Employment Appeals Tribunals concerning appeals on judges’ and firefighters’ pension schemes were published yesterday.

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has been awaiting the results of the appeals so that it can assess if they will have any impact for its own members.

Andy Fittes, general secretary of PFEW, says: “We note the outcomes and will now need to look closely at the judgements, in both the judges’ case and the firefighters’ case, in detail as well as wait to hear whether there will be any appeals. These are complex rulings and we need to examine the minutiae to see whether there are any implications for our members.”
