All members should take part in a national survey on the menopause, according to Leicestershire Police Federation’s equality lead Jon Carter-Lang.
The nationwide survey – which has been called ‘EveryonePause’ – has been launched by the Police Federation of England and Wales today (Thursday 18 October) which is World Menopause Day.
“The menopause should not just be seen as something affecting only women,” says Jon, “It is something that affects everyone so I would encourage men and women to take the time to fill out this survey and have their say on an issue that has much wider implications than many people acknowledge.
“This is the first survey of this kind to be carried out in the police service and is being supported by a number of stakeholders and working groups.”
Hayley Aley from the Federation’s National Board is leading on the survey. She explained: "We are all working for longer and in differing roles and this transition can have a huge effect and impact greatly on capabilities within the workplace.”
Hayley continued: “We are asking officers, staff and line managers for their support with this survey – it’s not solely about personal experiences - we want to understand what line managers and senior leaders are aware of around this subject. It is anticipated that the findings will help with education, understanding and support for all.”
The survey goes live today and will be open for six weeks. It will be sent to members via their PNN email addresses but other officers and staff who want to take part can contact the Federation office.
