NARPO

The National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO) is dedicated to looking after the interests of retired officers.

With just over 1,200 members in Leicestershire and Rutland and around 86,000 nationally, it aims to provide dedicated services to retired officers and looks after their welfare, paying particular attention to pensions.

It also takes an interest in all issues affecting the health and wellbeing of older people and provides access to solicitors, free tax advice and police specialist insurance products, among other things.

In 2018 membership cost £20.64, subscriptions are increased annually in January using the Consumer Price Index rate from the previous September.  Membership is open to any retired officer at any time post retirement.

NARPO is organised in a similar way to the Federation, in that there are local branches with elected representatives. Its headquarters is in Wakefield.

Locally the organisation meets quarterly and has an AGM following the April meeting. All members are invited to attend this meeting, where members receive the Annual Report and discussions take place around members' welfare needs. Assistance is given to arrange reunions and a Christmas lunch is organised for widow and widower members.

The national website displays current issues, member services, situations vacant and a reference section for issues like police pension and injury on duty awards.
