Kent Police Federation

“The Federation is nothing without its Representatives" Federation Chair calls on others to consider the challenge of being a rep

18 January 2021

Kent Police Federation Chairman Neil Mennie has thanked Police Federation Representatives who worked exceptionally hard across 2020 – and called on others to consider taking up the challenge.

Neil said: “The Federation is nothing without its Representatives, who are working hard all over the county on a voluntary basis in addition to their day jobs. They are continuing to work hard and support our members in all sorts of ways.”

This year will see the Federation elections, which will invite new people into Representative posts, and Neil has encouraged officers to join up whatever their background.

He said: “This year we have our triennial elections and we’re very keen to encourage people to consider standing and being Representatives. We’re very keen to encourage our junior in service officers and those from diverse backgrounds to consider standing as Fed Reps. If you’re interested, please come and speak to us.

“The work of the Federation is something that until you’ve had a look at it and an understanding of what it’s all about, you don’t realise how very rewarding it really. This is an opportunity to understand how the Federation works, how it looks after our members and the easiest thing to do is to seek out and speak to an existing Federation Rep about the work that the Federation does.”
