Kent Police Federation Group Insurance renewal details - active from April 1st 2021

On the 1^st of April 2021 Kent Federation Group Insurances products are due for renewal. Due to changes in the insurance market and some challenging claims history there will be some premium increases.

Legal Insurance – Since 2018 Kent Federation have paid the premium on behalf of all Federation subscribing members to be members of the off duty legal insurance scheme.

The scheme has been a victim of its own success whereby the insurance company has paid out more in representing officers in internal misconduct proceedings than they have received in premiums.

The renewal premium has increased to a level whereby Kent Federation are not able to fund this product any longer. Members are asked to join the scheme at a cost of £3.75 per month. To continue your membership of the scheme and ensure you have legal cover should you face misconduct allegations regarding off duty conduct please ensure you complete the application form. If you were a member of the scheme prior to 2018 you still need to complete the application form.

Life Assurance – A new service is being included alongside the life cover. The cover will include ‘GP Care’. GP Care provides members of the scheme and their resident families with unlimited access via telephone or app to a GMC licensed practicing GP, from the comfort of their home. It is available 24/7, 365 days a year, worldwide so it can even be used when you are on holiday. The premium with the added ‘GP Care’ service will change as follows from the 01/04/21;

Personal, Accident and Income Replacement (PAI) – The cost of the premium will be rising from £6.27 to £7.75. There are more ‘critical illnesses’ that will be covered by this policy but it remains relatively unchanged and the premium increase is solely attributable to the number of claims made.

Travel/Gadget/RAC – This product will be remaining at the same premium of £11.50. However, due to uncertainty in the travel market this is only for a 1-year period.
