Hertfordshire Police Federation members are being encouraged to take part in the ongoing elections.
The nomination period is now open, and members have until 24 January to put themselves forward.
All Hertfordshire Police Federation members, from police constable to chief inspector, including Specials, can nominate themselves and stand for election as a workplace rep.
Voting will then take place between 3 and 25 February, with results announced on 27 February.
Information on how to stand and how to vote has been emailed to all members.
Branch chair Luke Mitchell is encouraging members to engage in the process.
He said: “I really hope that all of our members take part in the elections, whether that’s by standing for election or voting for their preferred candidate.
“You may want to drive the Federation forward, you may feel there are areas we can improve, or you may have been supported through work issues or proceedings, whatever your motivation, please consider putting yourself forward for election.
“If you’re dissatisfied with the Fed, then put yourself forward and be part of the change you want to see.”
Luke added: “And please, when the time comes, engage in the process by finding out who is standing and who you think will best represent you and your colleagues and making your vote count.”
The Force’s constables, sergeants and inspecting ranks, as well as Specials, can stand in the local workplace representative elections with successful candidates becoming part of their local Branch Council. From there, they can stand to be on the Branch Board and then stand for a regional or a national role if they wish.
Information on the first round of elections for workplace reps, including how to self-nominate and how to vote, has been emailed to all members.
As well as being able to vote for their local workplace reps, all members can vote for their local chair in May 2025 and later in the summer the national chair – all through an electronic voting system.
Each of the 43 police forces in England and Wales has a Federation Branch Council made up of all the workplace reps for that force. From the Branch Council, an executive - the Branch Board - is elected, including a secretary and treasurer. Other lead roles include equality, health and safety, and conduct and performance.
The elections will be complete by 1 October 2025 when the new National Board will be in place.
