Two Hertfordshire Police Federation members have spoken of their pride at being nominated for a bravery award for tackling a knife-wielding thug.
Police Constables Mercedes Newman and Tristian Morrison relive the moment they tackled and disarmed the violent attacker in the latest edition of Federation Matters, Hertfordshire Police Federation’s online magazine.
Tristian says: “Ultimately, what I’m most proud of is that nobody was physically hurt that day.”
The magazine also speaks to Federation member Dan Stoddart, who reflects on two decades serving Hertfordshire after receiving his long-service award.
Secretary Al Wollaston discusses some of the other issues facing members, including financial insecurity, conduct, and the need for senior officers to provide better support for rank and file officers.
Branch chair Luke Mitchell renews his calls for fair pay for police officers and gives his reaction to the Government’s Police Uplift Programme which has now come to an end.
Luke also looks back on his time as a Special Constable as he praised the contribution Specials make to policing.
And there’s a feature on Terasa Holden, who went from a pub manager to a police officer and is now a Federation rep.
