21 December 2021
Another year is nearly over and what a year it has been. Policing came under pressure like never before in 2021 with unprecedented demands on the service, little recognition for the efforts made and what felt like constant criticism from the media, politicians and some, but not all, members of the public.
So it is extremely important that you get to spend some time with your loved ones over the festive period and also, hopefully, manage to get some down time. I know many of you will be working at some stage over the holidays but do try to use whatever time off you have to recharge the batteries.
There will be fresh challenges in 2022 and you may once again be called upon to ensure new coronavirus rules and restrictions are observed.
But for now, on behalf of Hertfordshire Police Federation, I would like to wish you and your families a peaceful Christmas and a very happy New Year. Stay safe.
Geoff Bardell (branch chair), Al Wollaston (branch secretary) and the Hertfordshire Police Federation team.
