Members can join Government ministers, police chiefs and key decision-makers at the Police Federation’s first online annual national conference.
The conference takes place virtually this year because of the pandemic and will be held on June 9 and 10.
The theme is Policing Under Pressure and Hertfordshire Police Federation branch chair Geoff Bardell is encouraging members to get involved.
Geoff said: “We’ve lived through an unprecedented 12 months and the pandemic continues to affect us in our work and private lives.
“Through this year’s conference and its theme of Policing Under Pressure, we’ll be able to look at what we’ve experienced, to digest it and dissect it, and to look at what’s important to our members.
“And, with it taking place virtually, hopefully it will allow more members to take part than might have been possible with a physical conference.
“This is your Federation so I would really encourage members to try to join this year’s conference.”
The conference will bring together practitioners, policy decision-makers and policing stakeholders as well as guests from the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), College of Policing (CoP), Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) to debate and examine key issues.
Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions, participate in polls, attend keynote speeches, and listen in to panel discussions in the online auditoriums and break-out rooms.
For the first time, the conference will also include a virtual exhibition; an online space where key policing partners will each have a virtual, interactive stand. Attendees can navigate the exhibitors using the floorplan and either drop by to speak to someone or arrange an online one-to-one meeting.
The Federation’s national chair, John Apter, said: “The pandemic has affected everybody but certainly within policing its impact has been significant.
“The pressure on our colleagues has at times been intolerable and that’s why I think it’s really apt that the theme of the conference is Policing Under Pressure.”
