Hertfordshire Police Federation

Fed elections: nominations close next week

15 July 2021

Nominations for Police Federation workplace representatives close next week and Hertfordshire branch members who are considering standing for election are being urged to put their names forward as soon as possible.

Workplace reps have been described as the backbone of the Federation, providing vital support to more than 130,000 members across England and Wales.

They advise colleagues on matters such as conduct, pay, allowances, terms and conditions, equality, professional development and operational policing issues, often supporting colleagues at the most difficult time in their professional or personal lives.

Hertfordshire Police Federation secretary Al Wollaston said: “Nominations for workplace reps close next week so there is still time for members to get their names down on the list. It is a challenging but very rewarding role and I would encourage any members interested in representing their colleagues to put themselves forward now.

“All subscribing members can stand for election but it would be particularly good to see members from under-represented groups stepping forward.”

Full training is given by the Federation to ensure reps are in a position to offer continued advice, guidance and support to members.

Elections for Federation reps are held every three years with interim elections being organised if positions become vacant.

Nominations for this year’s workplace representatives elections close at 11.59pm on 22 July.

All subscribing Federation members have been sent an email directly to their PNN address (or their selected preferred email address) by the Federation’s independent third-party electoral service provider, Mi-Voice.

Non-subscribing members cannot stand for election but can vote. Details of the voting platform will be provided in the coming weeks once the nomination period is closed.

The email to subscribing members contains a link to an online nomination form. Members who wish to stand for election will need to complete the form, which includes confirming that they are eligible to stand and agree to the Standards and Performance Agreement.

Members are asked to check their junk mailbox if they cannot see the email from Mi-Voice in their inbox.

If you need further information about the role or the election process, please email Al.
