Police Friendly: saving plans for the whole police family

27 May 2025

Savings and investment plans tailored to meet the needs of members of the entire police family are now being provided thanks to Police Friendly.

Police Friendly will offer products for serving and retired police officers, police staff, Specials and their family members, and has been launched by Metfriendly, which has supported the policing family for more than 130 years.

Annette Petchey, CEO, said: “We’ve always been here for the Met, and now we’re here for all of UK policing. We’re incredibly proud of our 132-year history supporting the policing community, and Metfriendly will continue to serve London forces with the same dedication. But Police Friendly makes it clear, no matter where you serve, you can count on us.”

She continued: “From savings to protection, everything we offer is tailored to support the people behind the badge. We are here to help you plan, protect and prepare - with confidence. We’re the only remaining member-owned mutual society focused solely on policing. That means we exist for our members, and everything we do is for their benefit. Policing is in our DNA, and our members are at the heart of every decision we make.”

Key benefits of Police Friendly include:

●  Specialist savings and investment plans

●  Life protection products tailored to policing risks

●  Financial education workshops and webinars

●  Dedicated, expert member support

●  Commitment to community and wellbeing initiatives.

The launch of Police Friendly follows the findings of the Police Family Finance Index, a landmark survey conducted by Metfriendly, which gathered responses from more than 10,000 police officers and staff across the UK.

The research revealed significant financial pressure across the policing community:

●  64 per cent of officers reported experiencing financial concerns

●  17 per cent admitted to missing meals due to lack of money

●  55 per cent said financial stress was seriously affecting their wellbeing

●  Among officers with 1 - 5 years’ service, 24 per cent are considering leaving policing and 18 per cent are exploring taking on a second job.
