Avon & Somerset Police Federation

Equality

Equality reps are specially trained to support officers through equality matters, often involving complex legislation surrounding the Equality Act 2010.

Many of the issues that our workplace reps deal with touch on equality; bullying and Fairness at work grievances, reasonable adjustments for disabled officers, support to pregnant officers and those on maternity leave, flexible working plans for officers juggling childcare and asserting rights when faced with unlawful discrimination.

Protected Characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 include:

  • gender reassignment
  • being married or in a civil partnership
  • being pregnant or on maternity leave
  • disability

If you feel like you have been unfairly treated based on a protected characteristic please contact our office at the  Federation on  info - Avon & Somerset BB info.avonsom@polfed.org, so that we can advise, support and guide you.
