Breaking News from our colleagues and friends in Thames Valley Police, is telling us that a Roads Policing Officer has been killed whilst on duty. The officer was attending a report of a burglary when he was fatally injured.
Our thoughts and wishes are with the family of this brave officer, with his colleagues and friends.
A number of people have been arrested during the initial stages of a murder investigation. This investigation will be progressed and Thames Valley Police will update when they are able.
Chair, Andy Roebuck said,
“This is tragic news. The loss of a Police Officer impacts on us all as a Police Family. Our immediate thoughts are with the officers family, our colleagues and friends in TVP. There is an ongoing criminal investigation which is never easy for those officers and staff. I have contacted the Force Federation, offering our thoughts, help and support during this very difficult and challenging time.
This does highlight the dangers that Police Officers and Staff undertake every day. Policing in part is very dangerous, but their work is valued by so many every day. This is a very sad time, where we will quite rightly reflect on this and other incidents. The Federation and the Constabulary will help and support our people in any way needed. I ask for my colleagues and friends to stay safe in their duties.”
