Avon & Somerset Police Federation

Retiring Federation Chair Thanks Members For Their Hard Work

9 January 2025

Avon and Somerset Police Federation Branch Chair Iain Prideaux is retiring from the police service.

Iain said: “It has been a great honour to become a Police Officer and a Federation representative. It has given me a chance to serve and protect some of the most vulnerable in our community and within our policing family.

"Initially, West Midlands Police and later Avon and Somerset Constabulary gave me opportunities to develop both professionally and personally. I am so grateful to the colleagues and trainers who invested in me.

"Having a servant heart meant that the Federation became a natural home and I have worked with an amazing team of representatives and staff who have the policing family’s health, wellbeing, rights and best interest at heart.

"The relentless demand, scrutiny and high accountability has meant that Police Officers health and wellbeing has suffered. A strong Federation has never been more important to protecting the protectors. We are now in an election cycle, so please consider joining the Federation as a workplace representative and support your colleagues when they need it most.

"As your Chair, it has been a privilege to be part of making positive change for you and recognising your achievements both locally and nationally. Your bravery, tenacity and professionalism shines brightly every day and you are a credit to the Constabulary.

"I would like to thank my wife Julie, our children Beth and Mia and to thank all friends, family and colleagues who have supported me throughout my career.

"Finally, I would like to say thank you to our members, Police Officers, Police Staff and all the friends and family who support you. Thank you for your service and keeping us safe. Thank you for supporting me as your Chair and I wish you every success for a happy and healthy 2025.”
