Colleagues
I am pleased to have been elected by the Avon and Somerset Police Federation Branch Board to be your new Vice Chair.
It is a crucial time to represent you and listen carefully to your concerns. As Vice Chair, I will take your lived experiences back to the Constabulary and mirror them against the force values of caring, courageous, inclusive and learning.
Where there are shortfalls, your representatives and I, will influence and lobby for change. It is encouraging to see Government talk of establishing a national 24/7 mental health support line and we will work closely with the new Chief Medical Officer for Policing to ensure the highest standards are adopted in our own Occupational Health review.
I am looking forward to discussing the ballot on industrial rights and exploring your views within the Constabulary’s People Survey.
Your roles are subject to detailed public scrutiny and you are held against the most principled of human standards. Yet through it all, you provide tireless professionalism and bravery.
Not Monday – Friday, but 24/7, 365 days a year.
Thank you and I hope to meet you soon.
