Avon and Somerset Police Federation launch our first Ever Awards

Celebrating our Incredible Colleagues... coming in 2024, the first ever Avon and Somerset Police Federation Recognition Awards!

A new Autumn Awards Ceremony is being launched to recognise and celebrate Police Officers who have gone above and beyond in their difficult roles.

The inaugural Avon and Somerset Police Federation Recognition Awards, in association with ASP Group Insurance Scheme, will take place in October, with award presentations recognising incredible colleagues, following a gala dinner.

Bravery, Inspiration, Incredible Detective work, Rep of the Year and Team of the Year will all be highlighted.

Avon and Somerset Police Federation Acting Chair Iain Prideaux said: “Our colleagues are out there every day carrying out an incredibly difficult job with sadly little recognition.

"They run towards danger and are increasingly under attack, often going above and beyond to prevent and detect crime, keep people safe and protect our communities.

"This is not always recognised by the public, politicians or the press... so these new Awards are a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the best of the best, and tell everyone what an outstanding job our officers are doing in challenging circumstances."

Iain added: "Sadly the public and media focus has been on the small amount of negative incidents rather than the huge amount of positive policing that occurs every day.

"We are really proud to be launching this prestigious event celebrating the work that our officers carry out. Hopefully it will help to redress the balance and remind those who need reminding.

"We look forward to this new night becoming a firm fixture in the policing calendar.”
