Salisbury train crash: Wiltshire Police Federation praises officers for professional and quick thinking actions

1 November 2021

A major incident was declared on Sunday 30th October after two trains collided in Salisbury, leaving several people injured.

Mark Andrews, Chair of Wiltshire Police Federation, said "When I hear of an incident of this type my thoughts are always with the safety of the people directly involved but also the officers who are responding to it.  I am so glad there has been no fatalities and I wish all who have been injured a full recovery.

"Our officers worked in partnership with other emergency services to preserve life and get people out as safely and quickly as possible.  That is always at the forefront of our minds when we attend this type of large scale accident.  I would like to personally thank all involved for their professional approach in this operation.  I will work with Wiltshire Police to ensure those officers dealing with in receive as much welfare support as it continues but also moving forward.

"Police officers in Salisbury and across Wiltshire are becoming used to rapidly and effectively dealing with large scale major incidents in way which reflects the highest quality of policing.  Their actions should be commended even though they don’t ask for such recognition”.
