The chairman of Wiltshire police Federation says the strain on resources around the country is critical David Ibbott said: “The Amesbury incident has put an extraordinary strain on the rank and file officers, they are doing 12 hour shifts, they are having their rest days cancelled leave requests are obviously being looked at on an individual basis. Although the force has not as yet blanket any cancelled leave but that is not true to say that they couldn’t use it and obviously we're looking resources from other forces to help man the cordons throughout the whole of the County and in particular the Amesbury area.”
