Calling all Specials – sign up for FREE Federation membership

10 December 2024

Specials who have not yet subscribed to the Federation are being urged to consider doing so.

A change in legislation in 2022 opened up Federation membership to members of the Special Constabulary, but to date not all have signed up.

“Specials’ Federation subscriptions are paid by the Force so membership is free to the volunteers themselves,” explained Tim Rogers, secretary of West Midlands Police Federation.

“In effect, that means the Specials get free access to the support and advice the Federation can offer so it makes complete sense for them to subscribe.”

Branch chair Tim Rogers.

Special Constables can join the Federation when they have completed their training and when they start their duties.

As a subscribing member of the Police Federation, Specials can:

  • Call on the expert services of Federation representatives during performance and misconduct proceedings
  • Make criminal, misconduct and civil applications for legal assistance for on duty matters should it be needed
  • Access a range of member services and exclusive offers provided by the Police Federation, nationally and locally.

Further information about becoming a member, including your rights as a Special Constable, can be found at: Special Constables at PFEW.

To join, please download and complete the application form and either return by email or post to Guardians House, 2111 Coventry Road, Sheldon, Birmingham, B26 3EA.
