Members are also able to apply for grants or loans, which are often given interest free. The funds can be used by members to ease them through difficult periods in their life when the member cannot afford themselves, or if the member has fallen ill through illness or injury. The Fund has limited resources and has to prioritise applications where there is most need. All applications are reviewed by a sub committee of Trustees.
Members are able to access a grants towards a welfare stay at a venue of their choice - this benefit allows members to apply for funding towards the cost of accommodation to aid respite, recuperation and rehabilitation. The Welfare Fund can also offer welfare gifts for members and their families – these can include flowers and hampers for members who are experiencing difficult times.
The cost is £8.70 per month. For more information please email welfarefundadministration@westmercia.police.uk
Please note that the Welfare fund is now run by West Mercia Police and the Federation no longer has involvement in running the scheme.
