West Mercia Police men’s rugby team secured their place in the Police Sport UK (PSUK) Plate Final after an outstanding comeback victory over Surrey Police.
The team faced an early setback when they went 14-0 down in the early stages of the last-four clash at Didcot RFC in Oxfordshire.
But they responded brilliantly, producing a dominant display to turn the match around and claim a 53–21 win.
Detective Inspector Dave Knight, West Mercia Police Men's Rugby manager, said the performance and result reflected the significant progress made by the team in recent years.

Dave, a West Mercia Police Federation member, said: “Going behind early tested us, but the reaction from the players showed the character and resilience within this squad.
“The result was a measure of all the hard work that the squad have put in over the past few years.
“Reaching the final is something the whole group should be proud of.”
West Mercia will now face Scottish Police Saltires in the PSUK Plate Final.
The match will take place at Sale FC with a 1pm kick-off next Wednesday (22 April), and supporters are warmly encouraged to attend.
Dave said: “I’d like to thank everyone who helps West Mercia Police players to continue committing to these fixtures.
“The West Mercia Police Sports Fund and Quick Mortgages also deserve special mention for their continued financial support.
“The support that we receive is greatly appreciated by everyone involved.”
