West Mercia Police Federation

New edition of Connect magazine out now

22 September 2026

The latest edition of West Mercia Police Federation magazine is now available to download.

The Summer 2026 edition is the first magazine under new branch chair Gareth Spreadbury and secretary Stu Bott, who introduce themselves with a quickfire questions feature covering everything from their favourite food and music to the best piece of advice they have ever been given.

Gareth also talks about his diagnosis with ADHD at 40 and reflects on four decades of self-doubt, the impact of stigma and why understanding neurodiversity can transform lives.

The magazine features PC Molly Middleton’s moving account of how her terminally ill father was able to see her pass out as a police officer.

And we hear how PC Shaun Lyle and his daughters are being recognised for their bravery on a family holiday when they rescued a man from drowning in the sea.

Frontline

Fed rep PC Dave Hussey explains how his frontline policing experience helps him support colleagues facing misconduct proceedings.

The magazine includes a focus on the campaign surrounding the early release of PC Andrew Harper’s killers.

DCI Gareth Lougher talks about his experience of appearing in the BBC’s Murder 24/7, while retiring Federation member Chris Walsh reflects on 30 years with West Mercia Police.

The edition also includes features on West Midlands Police’s involvement in this year’s Unity Tour, the Knife Angel’s visit to Shrewsbury and an initiative by Inspector Jodie Davies to provide essential items for women fleeing or experiencing domestic violence.

It’s all in the latest edition of Connect, out now.
