West Mercia Police Federation

Summer magazine out now

27 August 2025

The summer edition of the West Mercia Police Federation magazine, Connect, is out now, featuring the incredible story of Sergeant Kully Singh and PC Stacey Hegenbarth, that earned them a Bravery Award.

Kully and Stacey were regional winners for their courageous handling of an incident on the M5 in July 2024.

The officers used their police vehicle to stop a car being driven at speed in the wrong direction on the motorway.

They were the regional winners at the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) -  and you can read their story in Connect.

Bravery award

And you can find out how Kully’s son and nursery celebrated his award nomination.

Steve Butler says thank you and goodbye in his final column before he takes up a regional position with PFEW.

And there’s a response from PFEW to the Government’s police pay award announcement.

There’s a moving round-up of the Police Unity Tour (PUT) and the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) Service of Remembrance, both of which honour fallen officers.

And members are being encouraged to attend this year’s National Police Memorial Day in Coventry to remember officers killed in the line of duty.

Uniform survey

The Federation branch says it is working with the Force to improve uniform and equipment following the results of a landmark national survey on kit.

Ahead of Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September, there’s a focus on West Mercia Police’s Men’s Health Network and on a daredevil skydive raising awareness of men’s mental health.

A Federation member shares the story of his academic research on neurodiversity in the Force.

A recently retired detective talks about working with a television crew for a BBC true crime documentary.

And there’s a round-up of the discounts, perks, and benefits available for Federation members.

It’s all in the summer edition of Connect, the branch magazine, available to read for free online.
