West Mercia Police Federation

Branch chair welcomes Tiff Lynch as new national chair

26 June 2025

Tiff will become only the second female chair in PFEW’s 106-year history when her duties officially begin on 1 July.

Steve said: “On behalf of the branch, I’d like to wish Tiff all the best as she becomes our new national chair.

“As we know, there are issues that run deep around pay, conditions, morale and wellbeing.

“Our members have had more than a decade of falling wages and their morale is falling just as quickly.

“They don’t feel valued by the Government, are a target for the media, and are facing increasing numbers of attacks just for the uniform they wear.

“Things need to change.

Protection

“I will continue to work with the national Federation, and with local key stakeholders, to give our members the best possible service, representation and protection.”

Steve added: “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank previous chairs for their hard work and dedication to the Federation and supporting frontline officers.”

Tiff began her policing career in 1995 when she joined Leicestershire Police, before going on to specialise in firearms, tactical support and frontline policing as a general response and beat officer.

Steve said he will do all he can to support the purpose of the National Chair, which is to stand up for police officers and lead with a clear focus; to be bold, unapologetic, and relentless in fighting for fair pay and better conditions; to protect what matters; to improve what’s not working; and to make sure the Federation stays relevant and strong in the face of ongoing challenges.

Echoing Tiff’s words, Steve ended: “It’s not just about being seen; it’s about getting things done.”
