The secretary of West Mercia Police Federation says he looks forward to working with the new Chief Constable of West Mercia Police, after it was confirmed that Kyle Gordon will take on the role.
Mr Gordon, who is a current commander for the Metropolitan Police, will be taking over from Pippa Mills, former Chief Constable who announced her departure late last year.
Mr Gordon also brings with him experience in the British Transport Police and the Police Service for Northern Ireland.
He was chosen following a process in December 2023 and has already cemented plans to ‘deliver a community-focused police service’ across West Mercia.
"I am delighted to be confirmed as the next chief constable for West Mercia Police,” he said.
New Chief Constable of West Mercia Police, Kyle Gordon.
"I am passionate about delivering a community-focused police service that is visible, accessible, responsive, and effective to build further on the trust and confidence we have among our communities.”
Branch Secretary Pete Nightingale said: “I’m pleased to hear a new Chief Constable has been chosen - and feel optimistic that Mr Gordon will bring with him invaluable experience from a diverse range of roles to the job.
“For officers and members of the public, it’s essential that we have a lead figure driving forward community policing here in West Mercia. Our cops want to be out there, on our streets, protecting people - it’s brilliant to hear that Mr Gordon shares those priorities. I hope that we can continue with an excellent, professional constructive working relationship with our current Chief Officers. Our recent cultural audit highlights some areas where we can improve and psychological absence continues to be a concern.”
Mr Gordon’s start date is yet to be confirmed.
