West Mercia Police Federation

Don’t miss opportunity to take part in Pay and Morale Survey

16 October 2024

Time is running out to have your say on police pay and working conditions.

The Federation’s latest Pay and Morale survey for members of West Mercia and the other 42 English and Welsh Forces closes on Monday 28 October.

It is easy to take part – simply locate the survey link that was emailed to you and fill out the form online.

And members are being reminded that their feedback will underpin the data that the Federation uses to argue for workplace reforms, increased support in areas like mental health, and fairer pay, in our discussions with senior leaders and the Government.

Steve Butler, chair of West Mercia Police Federation, said: “I make no apologies for continuing to remind colleagues about the importance of this PFEW survey.

"This is not only an opportunity for you to speak up the challenges you face but it is also a chance to share the positives that come with the job too.

“Information is power, as they say, and it’s vital that the Federation has up-to-date figures and examples when we step into bat for you – so please do make time to fill in the survey. My thanks to those who have submitted theirs already.”

Our 2023 survey, published in April this year, was completed by 26 per cent of eligible officers. The Federation hopes to increase participation further this time.

We found that 95 per cent of West Mercia officers thought the morale in the force was low and 81 per cent were dissatisfied with their pay. 47 per cent felt stressed at work and 15 per cent were intending to leave.

If you have any questions or encounter problems accessing the survey, email researchanddatacollection@polfed.org.
