West Mercia Police Federation

Rep 'proud' to represent both branch and friend at Christmas event

22 December 2023

West Mercia Police Federation rep PC Andy Forbes says he was proud to represent the branch and support his friend and colleague at a police memorial Christmas event.

The Police Remembrance Trust welcomed friends and supporters to the US Embassy in London to recap the year and to look ahead to 2024.

Andy attended the event with PC Luci Boardman, the widow of PC Andy Boardman, who died while on duty in April.

They attended an evening reception where they spoke to the families and friends of other officers who have died in the line of duty.

Andy said: “From my perspective as a rep, I was proud to be able to represent the Federation and to show our support for the event and for people who have lost loved ones.

“But also from a personal point of view, it was nice to be there in memory of my mate, Andy, and to support Luci, who has been a friend of mine since before we started in the police.”

The Police Remembrance Trust was established earlier this year through the merger of the Roll of Honour Trust and the National Police Memorial Day Trust.

As well as maintaining National Police Memorial Day, its priorities are to establish a Welsh Police Memorial, and to continue working in partnership with the new UK Digital Police Memorial.
