West Mercia Police Federation

Chair sends 'good luck' message to Bravery Awards nominee

10 July 2023

Branch chair Barry Horton says West Mercia Police Federation member Chris Rogers “acted in the finest traditions of the service” when he saved a man from drowning.

Chris’s actions in pulling the man from the River Wye in June last year have earned him a nomination for the national Police Bravery Awards.

Now, on behalf of the West Mercia Police Federation branch, Barry has sent him a good luck message ahead of the ceremony on Thursday.

Barry said: “Chris’s quick thinking and selfless actions undoubtedly saved the man’s life.

“Without hesitation he entered the fast-flowing and murky river with little idea of the hazards that were in the water and managed to pull the man out of the water and to safety.

“Chris acted in the finest traditions of the police service and is fully deserving of his nomination.

“On behalf of the West Mercia Police Federation, I wish him good luck for the awards.”

The national Police Bravery Awards take place on Thursday 13 July.
