A police motorcyclist who was fatally injured in a collision as he escorted a national cycle race has been remembered by West Mercia Police Federation chair Sarah Cooper.
PC David Hopkins had been riding ahead of the race when he was in collision with a car near Malvern on 28 May 1998. He was 41.
Sarah said: “The thoughts of everyone at West Mercia Police Federation are with David’s family, friends and colleagues today.
“The sacrifice of those who die serving their communities must never be forgotten. We are thankful for David’s service and will continue to honour and remember him.”
