West Mercia Police Federation

Attend the Federation’s online conference

12 May 2021

This year’s Police Federation national conference takes place online for the first time due to the pandemic.

The theme for the conference is Policing Under Pressure and it will be held on 9 and 10 June.

“Conference provides an opportunity to consider current policing issues and hear the views of Government ministers, police chiefs and other key decision-makers and stakeholders,” says Sarah Cooper, chair of West Mercia Police Federation.

“Since it is taking place online this year it is hoped that more members will find the time to listen in for at least part of the conference.”

Among the guests will be representatives of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), College of Policing (CoP), Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) and the Home Secretary usually makes a keynote speech.

For the first time, the conference will also include a virtual exhibition; an online space where key policing partners will each have a virtual, interactive stand. Attendees can navigate the exhibitors using the floorplan and either drop by to speak to someone or arrange an online one-to-one meeting.

John Apter, national Federation chair, said: “The pandemic has affected everybody but certainly within policing it’s impact has been significant. The pressure on our colleagues has at times been intolerable and that’s why I think it’s really apt that the theme of the conference is Policing Under Pressure.”
