Federation members can open a new savings account offering a guaranteed return of 4.25 per cent on balances between £1,000 and £10,000.

The Fixed Saver account is being offered by Serve and Protect Credit Union, but is only available for applications during February.

Serve and Protect is a not-for-profit organisation designed to help people in the police, prison, military, fire and health services save money for their financial future and be there if they need to borrow throughout their career and beyond.

It works with employers to make it as easy as possible for their employees to reach their financial goals via a range of savings accounts and personal loans.

The not-for-profit cooperative serves more than 50,000 members across Britain, providing competitive savings returns and vital access to affordable credit to those who serve and protect our nation.

How the Fixed Saver works: 

• Deposit from £1,000 to £10,000

• Lock money away for a 12-month term
• Earn a guaranteed return of 4.25 per cent AER

• Savings are FSCS protected up to £85,000.
