Federation members are invited to drop by at an event tomorrow (Friday 21 March) featuring help and advice around cancer from branch equality lead Emma Arthurs.
A network day for officers and staff of Suffolk and Norfolk constabularies is being held at the Barn at Hethersett Old Hall, Norfolk, from 11am to 2pm.
The relaxed drop-in event is an opportunity to learn more about what resources are available to you at any stage of your policing career .
A range of support groups and services will be on offer, including the likes of the Ethnic Minority Police Association, and the Norfolk and Suffolk LGBT Police Network.
Branch equality lead Emma Arthurs.
In their joint capacity as single-point-of-contact (SPOC) for officers and staff in either force living with cancer, Emma and Fed member Hayley O’Donnell will be present.
Emma, who will be at table 14 in the Barn, said: “As SPOC, Hayley and I run a cancer peer support group for those working in both forces, and it is one of proudest responsibilities I’ve ever had.
“It creates healthy conversations, provides practical solutions and lets people living with critical illness know they are never alone.
“If you want a taste of what we’re about, I would encourage you to come to Hethersett. You’ll be able to see for yourself how much help is out there for those in policing who are affected by cancer in any way.
“At the event, we will also be providing education on self-care, such as with body prosthetics which will help you look out for signs of cancer on yourself.
“Plus, there are plenty of other really beneficial services to find out more about on the day, so if you are able to, please come along at any time that suits you between 11 and 2.”
Hethersett Old Hall can be found on Norwich Road, Hethersett, Norwich, NR9 3DW.
