20 December 2023
With festivities in full swing Suffolk Police Federation would like to wish all members, volunteers and police staff a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
2023 has definitely brought with it its challenges for policing. With workload demand at an all-time high, cancelled rest days remaining an issue and assaults on officers ongoing, it’s fair to say our members continue to face the pressures that come with being a police officer. And while we did receive a long-awaited pay rise this year, the increase wasn’t a true reflection of the hard work and dedication consistently shown by our members.
Please know that as we look forward to 2024, we will continue to support officers, give members a voice and raise your concerns at every given opportunity.
Christmas is often a time of reflection, and looking back on the past 12 months, we’ve also seen our members share some fantastic stories with the branch. From honouring courageous cops at this year’s national Police Bravery Awards to marking International Women’s Day, not to mention how workplace rep Emma Arthurs is on a mission to raise awareness of cancer - we can’t help but feel so much pride when reading your experiences. These stories epitomise policing and showcase our officers at their best.
For many, we anticipate you will be working over Christmas, and for that we thank you. We hope though, that you will be able to get some time off over the festive period to enjoy a well-earned break with family and friends.
Once again, thank you for all of your hard work this year, and have a very merry Christmas.
