Suffolk Police Federation member Matt Lakin described winning tea for two at Seckford Hall as a “lovely surprise”.
But Matt will have to wait until a rest day that coincides with a day off for his wife Emily, who is a veterinary nurse, before they can enjoy their prize together.
Matt said: “Emily also works shifts and we’re opposing at the moment - we haven’t seen each other for about four days - so as soon as have an off day together we’re going to go, hopefully sometime next month.”
Seckford Hall is a hotel and spa in the Suffolk countryside not far from Force Headquarters.
The prize was offered by Police Insure, which provides a specialist insurance service for serving and retired police officers, Specials, staff and their partners, and attracted 428 entries.
Darren Harris, Suffolk Police Federation chair, said: “Police Insure was delighted so many officers and staff entered the competition, and would like to thank everyone who took the time to do so and who will, hopefully, benefit from savings on their car and home insurance.”
Matt added: “I entered on the off-chance and it was a lovely surprise to win. Seckford Hall is a really nice place so I’ll definitely have to wear my best gear.”
