A vacancy has arisen for a workplace representative to join the Suffolk Police Federation Branch Council.
Full training will be given and anyone with an interest in supporting their colleagues is urged to consider putting themselves forward.
“Being a workplace representative can be an incredibly rewarding role,” says Darren Harris, chair of Suffolk Police Federation, “Often it can be as simple as offering guidance on regulations or providing details of Force policies or Federation campaigns but as a Fed rep you can also offer support to colleagues facing conduct proceedings.
“We are particularly keen for constables to consider standing for election so that we can be fully representative of the membership.
“If anyone is interested in finding out more about what the role entails, please speak to your local reps or give the office a call and speak to either myself or the branch secretary, Ben Hudson.”
Any Federation member up to the rank of chief inspector is eligible to stand to be a Federation rep in nationwide elections which are held every three years. Federation branches also hold elections when vacancies occur during the triennial period.
Nationally, the Federation represents approximately 130,000 officers (97 per cent of all rank and file officers) on matters of pay, conditions, welfare and equality, benefiting members and the police service as a whole.
