Running more than one car? It’s worth a quick check.
Many police households now run two cars — a main vehicle and a second car, or a partner’s car. Quite often they’re insured separately, even though that isn’t always the most efficient or cost-effective way to do it.
Changes to shift patterns, mileage and home working mean many police households are using second vehicles very differently than they were a few years ago, which can affect how policies are best set up.
Multi-car insurance allows two or more vehicles at the same address to be insured with the same provider, often with a discount for each additional car. Each vehicle can still keep and maintain its own no-claims discount, and cover can usually be tailored per car, which can be useful, if one does higher mileage than the other.
It won’t suit everyone — and it isn’t always cheaper — which is exactly why it’s worth checking rather than assuming.
