New Group Insurance Package Launched

Norfolk Police Federation will be launching a new group insurance package on 1st August 2018.
Norfolk Police Federation has reviewed the group insurance scheme with our insurance partners George Burrows in order to maintain a competitive service for you. The result of this review has been to offer a comprehensive group package. Detailed below are the important changes that will affect your membership of the current scheme.
You currently subscribe to our members services scheme which will cease covering you on the 31st July 2018. The new Group Insurance Package will be the only scheme available to all Federation members.
We wish for you to continue to benefit from our Group Insurance Scheme and take advantage of the improvements that a package scheme has to offer, in order to maintain cover, it is important that you complete and return your application promptly.
Allow us to advise you of the following cover enhancements that are included in the new Group Insurance Scheme package:
• Life assurance increased cover from £110,000 to £120,000
• Personal accident:- Permanent total disablement benefit increased from £110,000 to £120,000 and the following new benefits have been included:
Temporary Disablement weekly benefit £25 per week for up to 104 weeks
Hospital Benefit £50 per night for up to 7 nights
Occupationally acquired HIV/AIDS/Hepatitis B lump sum benefit of £55,000 where infection has been caused by a documented work related incident
Firearm assault lump sum benefit £2,500
Stabbing assault lump sum benefit £1,500
Unrecovered Court Award Compensation benefit £500
• Travel insurance:
New car hire excess waiver cover – insurers will pay up to £1,000 per claim for any monetary excess in respect of loss or damage to a rental vehicle whilst on holiday.
Travel cover has also been extended to include subscribing members residing in the EU.
• Sickness Benefit:- in addition to the existing half pay benefit of £150 which is payable for up to 26 weeks, if you are placed on No Pay a new benefit of £300 per week will be payable for a further 26 weeks.
In acknowledgment of the recent changes to state pension age, the upper age limit for serving members has been extended from 65 to 70 years.
Please note, iff you wish to include your partner, then you must be in the new Group Insurance Package scheme yourself. Partners:
• Life assurance increased cover from £82,000 to £85,000
• Permanent total disablement benefit increased from £82,000 to £85,000
• Hospital Benefit added to the Personal Accident cover providing £50 per night for up to 7 nights stay
• Mobile Phone / Gadget cover now included.
Norfolk Police Federation Group Insurance scheme
Premiums payable from 1 August 2018:

*The premiums include the Federation’s administration fee and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT).
In addition to the cover enhancements listed above the package will also include mobile phone/gadget insurance for all serving members of the group insurance scheme from 1 August 2018. Insurers will pay up to two claims per member per year, up to a maximum of £1,000 per gadget claim, £1,150 per mobile phone claim, for repair or replacement (as applicable) in the event of: accidental damage, theft, accidental loss (mobile phones only), breakdown, liquid damage, fraudulent call use. This particular element has been wholly funded by the Norfolk Police Federation.
With these new benefit enhancements and cover including UK & European RAC Motor Breakdown assistance, Legal Expenses, Best Doctors and Worldwide Family Travel insurance we feel the scheme represents excellent value for our members.
