Dyfed Powys Police Federation

New wellbeing guides available to download

10 February 2026

Police Mutual has published an online resource to help members of Dyfed Police Federation understand the risks that can be associated with gambling.

The Gambling guide explains that while gambling is a common pastime, it can quickly lead to debt, stress, and other personal issues.

It highlights practical steps such as checking that operators are licensed, setting spending and time limits, using self-exclusion tools, and talking to someone if gambling feels out of control.

The guide also stresses the wider impacts of problem gambling, including on relationships and mental health, and signposts support, including GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline and other advice services.

The Gambling guide is part of Police Mutual’s Let’s Talk Money series.

The series includes a companion guide to Talking to your children about money.

This resource offers members simple ways to build financial confidence in children.

It encourages parents and carers to start early with things like handling money, saving in a piggy bank, and making spending choices.

Police Mutual

Police Mutual, which provides financial services and welfare support to police officers and staff, their families, and the wider police family, has also produced a guide for Children’s Mental Health Week (9 to 15 February).

The resource is centred around this year’s theme of This is my place, which aims to highlight the importance of belonging in mental health and wellbeing.

The guide walks through common emotional and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

It includes tips to build resilience and encourage open communication, and includes useful links to organisations and charities should members need any extra support.

The Children’s Mental Health Week wellbeing guide is available to download now.
