Dyfed Powys Police Federation today remembers Inspector Gareth Earp on the third anniversary of his death.
Gareth died in a road accident as he travelled home from work on the A470 near Rhayader on 29 June 2023. He was 43.
Gareth spent most of his 21-year career with Dyfed Powys Police with Specialist Operations and had also been an inspector in Ceredigion.
At the time of his death, Gareth was the Roads Policing Unit inspector. He had become a police driving instructor, road deaths lead investigator, pursuit tactical advisor and team leader on the motorcycle VIP Escort Team escorting world leaders and members of the Royal Family across Wales, London and Scotland.
Gareth died just weeks before he was due to be the team leader for the motorbike escort for the King and Queen when they visited Brecon.
Federation branch chair Delme Rees said: “Today is an incredibly sad day for Dyfed Powys Police as we remember Gareth and the service he gave to our Force and our communities.
“His death was deeply felt by everyone at Dyfed Powys Police and continues to be felt three years on.
“We will hold in our thoughts Gareth’s family, his wife Tamsin, their three sons and his wider family, and we will also be thinking of his friends and colleagues.”
