Dyfed Powys Police Federation will pause to remember three officers who died in a road accident 36 years ago today.
Detective Constables Leonid Evans, 41, Roger Meyrick, 37, and Nicholas Tabraham, 29, died on 18 October 1990 after their vehicle was in a collision with a lorry while on surveillance training.
A fourth officer, DC Paul Hetherington, who was 35, died 11 days later as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.
Federation branch chair Delme Rees said: “This was an incredibly tragic incident and one of the darkest moments in the Force’s history.
“The loss of one officer is profoundly felt within a Force so losing so many officers in one incident would have been devastating for everyone.
“Today we remember those officers, their service and their sacrifice. And we keep their loved ones and those who worked with them in our thoughts as well.”
